Can Autistic People Drive

Homo demens

Pulp Fiction

Written jointly by the poet Franco Salcedo and the narrator Mariano Vargas (both graduates of the PUCP) novel Homo demens (Estruendomudo) is surely one of the most unorthodox literary proposals and controversial 2010. It tells the fictional dismemberment of the famous historian and sociologist Nelson Manrique, allegedly occurred on October 29, 1994, and the subsequent fate of the main suspect, Dr. Armando Vargas.

Violent and hallucinating, in the manner of Robert Rodriguez films (more than the aforementioned Quentin Tarantino), this novel is raised just like a movie: from the short sequences that integrate to the curious "division" final in which people are told what "real" characters are based. To this must be added including full pages of newspapers and radio news pieces and television.

Salcedo Vargas & have tried and given us a different version-questioning, poetic and ironic that the crimes were often committed in the years of political violence, questioning the way some of the most characteristic elements of the "Peru" of our time, but only managed to do so in a few episodes of this short novel (86 pages). Homo demens is, therefore, as a somewhat irregular work, an interesting project that deserved a wider development.

Demonstrat Men Masterbation

's death a bourgeois

Two solid conceptual poems - and boxers Mariners (2003) and trophies Fragile (2007) - converted to writer and journalist Jerome Pimentel (Lima, 1978) in a major voices called poetic generation post 2000. Leaving the thematic and formal rigidities, Pimentel now gives us Death of a bourgeois (AUB, 2010), a collection of 25 poems very diverse, ranging from childhood memories to the metaphysical reflections.

What unifies these texts is that revolve around training and beliefs of a middle-class Lima, not migrants, but the former emerging bourgeoisie, now in decline (hence the title of the book.) Memories of Sacred Heart College, or the Miraflores streets "Ocharán / Ferre / Churches" in memory of a man today "no work / no future / no dreams / no prospects" and feels "Nostalgia for the absolute" "Do not know if I believe in God. / I atomic force / that unites us and gives way .... "

Pimentel said recently: "I do not know if the unit of assessment in poetry is the verse or poem ... but I do know is that it is the poetry collection." Thus, unlike his previous books, The Death of a bourgeois is more focused on the quality of the texts themselves that the whole structure. The result is a good collection of poems, most personal and autobiographical, showing other aspects of literary production Pimentel.

Where To Look For Scarf Valances

House, Alma

The critical Camilo Fernández (Lima, 1965) is doing for the last 20 years, a systematic study of the work of major poets Peruvians twentieth century. This work began with the book The strange islands of Emilio A. Westphalen and has continued with books on George E. Eielson (1996), Rodolfo Hinojosa (2001) and José Watanabe (2009). They now joins House, body. Blanca Varela's poetry in the mirror (USIL, 2010).

Fernandez has been consolidating a personal critical method, that some of the more recent proposals by the General Textual Rhetoric, but that does not leave out the context (trends in the years Peruvian poetry 50), background, or the detailed statement of the issue. From this, we analyze here a series of poems by Varela: "Puerto Supe", "The Observer", "The place under the tree, "among others.

"Method Fernández" demonstrates its effectiveness and reach correctly interpret some recurring elements in this poem: the houses, the metaphors that refer to the mutilation and death. However, the evaluation of the whole, the critic repeats in House, body. The poetry of Blanca Varela ... almost verbatim what we said in Myth, body and modernity (2009) on the poetry of José Watanabe.

How To Prevent New Shoes From Crease

seaweed body

With three good novels published - Will molle (2006), do not forget our names (2009) and Blood, dust the snow (2010) - and important literary prizes (the most recent National Fiction Prize 2010 Federico Villarreal ) Karina Pacheco has already become one of Peru's most interesting writers today. Something that is fully confirmed by his first book of short stories, Alma alga (Draft, 2010).

of the extensive family sagas and historical processes of his novels, Pacheco (Ph.D. in Anthropology) passed on this occasion and synthetic symbolic myths. And the myths will reach the fantastic, so conducive to the story and here always approached with a certain poetic inspiration. When these elements are combined texts are achieved as good as "The Fiddler of the mountains," a cosmological version of The Pied Piper of Hamelin, or "Soul alga" love story tinged with Cortazarian.

There are other records in the twelve stories in this book: the intimacy of " Murder" and "Revenge", or the allegation of "Between the shadow and the sun" and "Morning in Babel." And while some texts are perhaps too "fictional" ("De the dark days, "" The Hat "), Alma algae returns to show us Pacheco as a thoughtful and effective storyteller, whether it story" atmosphere "or to recount violent and intense events.

Implantation Day Period Is Due

Barbarians Dreams Sleep Celta

In the novel Barbarians Dreams (Peisa, 2010) the painter and writer Rodrigo Núñez C . (Lima, 1953) reconsiders the draft of its first adventure narrative comedy desert (2002): the portrait of a group of intellectuals and artists living in "community" and immersed in artificial worlds of literature and art. But this time the results are much better, and Dreams barbarians is appearing on all lists of the best novels of 2010 Peruvian. Rafael

Delucchi is installed in a deserted house, with bohemian and talented friends (real people from the cultural Lima) for, together, shoot a monumental work. The fortunes of the group ranging from the tragedy (the suicide of John Bullitt, for example) to the cute and fun, alternating with reflections on famous films, technical details of how they're doing that of Delucchi, and even a version of Greek tragedy modern.

Núñez has replaced the farce and the "magical realism" of The Comedy ... known events and characters by recent political history of Peru, also built from a cinematic perspective. A real success, as this would compensate for the excesses "cultures" and gives the story a stronger factual basis. And while there is no well-defined plot (the story could go on ad libitum ) the nearly 500 pages of Dreams barbarians are read with great interest.

Signs Scorpio Man Is Not Interested

In Celtic's dream (Alfaguara, 2010) our brand new Nobel laureate Mario Vargas Llosa recreates the life of Roger Casement (1864, 1916) Irish nationalist hero as well as witness, and one of the first to denounce "the atrocities committed in Africa and America for the rubber collection firms. Precisely in these three areas (Ireland, Congo and Peru) develop the actions of this extensive and documented account.

is therefore a historical novel, a genre that has achieved MVLL create, based on characters and real data, sound and meaningful fictions (The War of the End of the world, The Feast of the Goat), but which has also encountered when approaching the "biopic" as in Paradise in the other corner. Some of this last case in this new novel because the author has fictionalized a lot and his "moralizing" is sometimes too emphatic and repetitive.

The best pages are those dedicated to the Peruvian Amazon, as described in several novels MVLL, Casement and dialogues with his jailer, while waiting to be executed. Despite careful documentation work, and maturity and enormous literary resources deployed by the author, The Celtic dream will surely be considered among the novels of the second magnitude (as The Storyteller or Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter ) within the whole work of Vargas Llosa.

Smithfield's Barbeque Nutrition

The dealer

Featured critical and university lecturer, Gustavo Faverón (Lima, 1965) has debuted on the literary with the novel The dealer (Peisa, 2010) an extensive detective story, in line with more "brain" of the genre (that of Poe and Borges .) Daniel, a collector of old books, confesses to having murdered his wife, so it is locked in a madhouse. But that's just the first of a strange series of crimes the novel's protagonist must resolve.

The story takes place in two opposite directions is becoming more and more elements of "fantasy and gothic horror story" (As stated by himself Faverón) and is rooted in the problem of political violence in Peru during the past decades. The author's intention is that these two lines complement the subjective and objective, fantasy and realism, giving the story multiple reading levels, from the real testimony to the allegorical and metaliterary.

This ambition to cover as many items can also be found in the diversity of the registers of language (poetic descriptions, dramatic dialogues, key texts, etc.). But despite the virtues and literary resources at stake, Not all these elements become integrated fully into fiction, which The dealer, while being a good novel, it loses some of unity and coherence.

Black Below Knee Dress

Deep Valuable editorial initiatives hair

The closure of the 31 Feria del Libro Ricardo Palma is a good opportunity to highlight some interesting editorial proposals. First, the Peisa Editions, which has been republished a number of classics Peruvian poetry, with good education and in his prefatory series "Morning Soul" which include all the work of César Vallejo - The Black Heralds, and Trilce complete poetic work - and the collected poetry of Javier Heraud.

Most Powerful Desktop Ever 2010

Eloy Jáuregui (Lima, 1955) is a popular and controversial journalist, his articles are collected in the book You are guilty (2004) - speech pathologist Lima and popular culture. However, it began as an enthusiastic young poet, a member of the second generation of the group Zero Hour. His poems included in various compilations, but these days has just published his first book: Deep hair. Or broken string guitar (Hinge, 2010).

texts gathered here have been posted at different times using different poetic and using different registers of language. In the first section ("Chest tip"), recreates the discourse of the chroniclers of the sixteenth century, to offer an ironic and critical version of the conquest of Peru. In another, the poet has episodes of his life, but in light of his reading and favorite works, with a true display of quotations, neologisms and adjectives always accurate.

Other poetry and themes in Deep hair, and they all proved to be an author Jáuregui efficient with a broad and careful vocabulary of sound and rhythm of his verses, features more typical of cultic poetry that vitalism Zero Hour. Despite his obvious achievements, these poems are always some epigonal character, perhaps because they are proposals that others have developed fully and take greater risks.

How To Make A Wooden Clothes Hamper

solar plexus

Oswaldo Chanover (Arequipa, 1954) is the author of one book of poetry paradigmatic of the 80 Peruvian, The hero and his relationship with heroin (1983), which shared many of the poetic options from the previous decade, but putting much more emphasis on irony and parody. These same elements can be found in the solar plexus (Coven, 2010), his sixth and latest book of poems.

From the book's title, taken from the anatomical nomenclature, these 33 poems are presented as consistent scientific discourse (on the laws of evolution, the big bang , operation Brain, etc.) but are slowly stumbling and falling on several contradictions, which the poet presents in words or verses enclosed in parentheses. Thus, the brackets are multiplied to provide a second speech parallel. Much of the poetic effect is precisely the jumps between these two "records."

The ruptures and breaks dynamic contributes ironic use of references from the most prestigious culture-eg the poems entitled "The dice (eternal)" or "Cursed Cavafy! - Or the most popular and media: rock, film , colloquial language. Although in this respect as in others, solar plexus is less successful than the first books of poems by Chanover, is nevertheless a valuable book, which shows an author coming to full maturity.

talented and controversial writer, Leonardo Aguirre (Lima, 1975) has made the world of the narrators, their adventures young Lima, bohemian and literary feuds, the almost exclusive subject of his narrative. These characters were the protagonists of the tales of hunting feathered Manual (2005) and transvestite Muse (2007), as well as peculiar texts The Count of St. Germain (2008) and the latest Aguirre book: Karaoke (Maghreb, 2010).

Five independent of each other-texts, ranging from the classic tale to pure dialogue-are what are Karaoke . In all cases we find the irony, black humor, puns, scatological language, the literary allusions and recurring to the Beatlemania that have already become characteristic features of Aguirre. And they all used to bring to land a series of "institutions" literature, presentations, awards, writers cursed or inspiration.

is a long list of young writers and "not so" young people here are parodied: Beto Ortiz, Iván Thays, Mario Bellatin, César Gutiérrez, Enrique Prochazka, among others. However, Karaoke leaves the impression of a certain exhaustion theme and form. Definitely, Leonardo Aguirre should close this first phase of its work and bring their creative writing to more favorable areas.

So close to life in exile

Santiago Roncagliolo (Lima, 1975) is usually regarded in the lists of the best American writers of today (such as recently published by Granta ), although his work so far fails to convince a large segment of criticism. His new novel, So close to life (Alfaguara, 2010), larger and more ambitious than the previous three is an original mix of thriller and science fiction.

The story told is that of Max, a logistics expert who travels to Tokyo to a convention of the Gemini Corporation. Max there, as the protagonist of the film Lost in Translation, it feels strange and misplaced, and almost accidentally starts a romance with a young hotel maid. Action is in the midst of discussions about artificial intelligence and robots that look like living beings (both people and animals), referring to films like Blade Runner and Artificial Intelligence.

As happened in Shame (2004) and Abril rojo (2006), again lost Roncagliolo gimmicky and irrelevant situations (Max games in the bathroom of the hotel), in references to films and audiovisual narratives, and neglect the more properly literary strength of the figures, the Working with language, the depth on important issues. So close to life is the best book of the author, but an enjoyable and interesting reading.

Bloating After Eating In A Dog

Miguel Ildefonso (Lima, 1970) is the emblematic poet of the "Generation 90", not only for her seven published books of poetry-from Remains (1999) to Hymns (2009) - always well received by critics but also by the important literary awards obtained both at home and abroad. The most recent of these awards is the National Prize for Poetry PUCP 2009, which came with the book exile (PUCP, 2010).

The 23 poems assembled here still the proposal initiated in The symphonic landslides (2008): texts written ten years ago but continued working Ildefonso, radicalizing their own initial proposals. Is renounced punctuation to the narrative, reflections metaliterary and in many of the texts, including the verse. But he remains amazed and torrential speech, which recreates the urban landscape elements from the original images and metaphors.

The novelty of these poems is the greatest distance between the subjectivity of "poetic" and "objective" world in which they live. Thus tends to identify with poets were somehow "exile" of society: Moro, Nerval, Martin Adam. Thus, this paper exile, which competed with other 635 poems by PUCP National Award once again confirms the quality and interest of the poetry of Miguel Ildefonso.
