Farewell

journalist and writer Marcelo Birmajer (Buenos Aires, 1966) has made the daily life of man "average" of their country the center of his narrative, consisting of a dozen books, from highest crime A (1992) to Latest stories Married Men (2001). But it is only in Farewell (Norma, 2010), its new and extensive novel is encouraged to delve into the emotions and feelings of these characters, their loneliness and existential void.

Dreidel, the protagonist, is a single-aged, neurotic and helpless, whom the death of his best friend sink into a deep crisis. Their problems (personal, family, work) seem to worsen with the crisis, which leads him to face extreme situations. However, in the manner of Kafka's characters, has a constant cold and distant attitude (a mixture of fear and indifference), with all the people around them.

thus going counter to the dominant trends in the narrative Argentina (the police "intellectual", for example). Farewell becomes a peculiar portrait of a large segment of society in that country. Unfortunately, halfway through the novel, Birmajer begins to complicate the plot too much, to parody classic texts (The Celestine , the Curioso ), generating unreal situations that end in a "happy ending" that has little to do with the rest of the story.

What Does The G In Pokemon Mean

Other attractions

In his novel Other attractions (Alfaguara, 2010) the journalist and writer Enrique Planas (Lima, 1970) tells the story of a young couple, Veronica and Daniel, who undertakes a long journey to overcome the loss of a child. But on that trip Veronica goes through a series of experiences that make leaving Daniel and assume the personality of the schizophrenic artist Unica Zürn (1916-1970), eventually to madness. Planas

returns in this account to the dominant themes and motifs in his three previous novels: the complex world of feminine emotions, transgressive eroticism and duplicity as a structural principle (the characters is always "double" or models that mimic .) But this time the writer gets rid of the excesses of those novels: the obsession with the grotesque, by the language "fad" or the colorful display of narrative techniques. Renouncing

did what one of our writers explicitly postmodern approaches Planas narrative Iván Thays, especially the novel The inner journey, a similar story and even complementary (Planas focuses on women who abandons his family, Thays in man abandoned). Other places of interest shows an author leaving errors About Alice (1999) and Staging (2002), but still in search of their own literary personality.

Caught Pokemon To Shinies Action Replay

The original and daring proposals poetic Rafael Espinosa (Lima, 1960), especially the Book of books Laetitia Casta (2003) and The anticyclone South Pacific (2007), made the critics regard as one of the most outstanding Peruvian poets the first decade of the century. His most recent book, Dear current transformers (AUB, 2010) maintained and even radicalized those proposals.

The book shows the emotions and thoughts of a middle-class Lima during a holiday either. The visit to the mother or the reunion with old friends in the neighborhood, triggering extensive reflections, true inner monologues of the "protagonist", expressed in a language that combines baroque syntax, rhetoric, poetry and urban lexicon technological characteristic of our time : "A mother is a signal code to Nautical too long, just / Click on the image files, it tells us / that we have entered calm waters ... ".

Highlights Beloved current transformers is that the lexicon, as seemingly despicable and antipoetic are achieved achieved moments of intense lyricism. Rafael Espinosa belongs to that breed of poets who are not afraid to experiment with the most current and everyday language (of the street, or Internet advertising, in this case), a line that starts Trilce Vallejo and continued social and poets after the most controversial groups, from "new" to Kloaka.

Beloved current transformers station encounters

Based in the United States since 1986, the writer and critic Peter Elmore (Lima, 1960) it has always been present in the Peruvian literary debate through its collaborations in the most important cultural magazines and local newspapers, including The Republic. The best of this abundant material was collected in the book station encounters (Peisa, 2010).

here is made a tour of the last century Peruvian poetry through the analysis of 10 key poems from Trilce (1922) until five seconds Horizon (2005) by Mario Montalbetti. The top ten also includes Martin Adam Westphalen, Eielson and Cisneros, among others. In fiction, however, Elmore is much more "continental" and discusses works Piglia, Bolaño and Fonseca, in addition to Ribeyro, Arguedas and Mario Vargas Llosa.

But the most interesting section of station meetings is "Art of Reading" in which Elmore writes about the trials that have influenced him most: George Steiner, Edward Said, Claudio Magris, JM Coetzee, Italo Calvino. All of them are some of the virtues (the ability of abstraction, the culturalist approach does not leave out the details) of their own books of criticism: The invisible walls (1993), on narrative Lima; memory factory (1997), on the historical novel, and The profile word (2002), on the work of Ribeyro.

Best of 2010

REVIEW OF LITERARY PRODUCTION, 2010 PERUVIAN

The literary event was, without doubt, the Nobel Prize awarded to Mario Vargas Llosa, in the month of October, after years of unjust delay. This award coincided with the release novel Dream of Celtic (Alfaguara), the story of Roger Casement Irish life (1864-1916), which are not of the best works of MVLL became the most important book 2010.

Rodrigo Núñez Meanwhile, after several attempts, succeeded in the novel Barbarians Dreams (ESRP) to recreate the world of writers, intellectuals and artists from Lima that he knows from the inside. He did it with a long-winded story (almost 500 pages), which combines the everyday with fun and tragic episodes in which we find so endearing characters as José Watanabe or John Bullitt.

novel also deserves mention The dealer (ESRP), the debut narrative known critic and blogger Gustavo Faverón. This is a detective story "intellectual", well written and with different levels of interpretation, though perhaps overly burdened with themes and turns of the plot. Another well-crafted detective story was Revenge of silence (Metro) by Alonso Cueto, who confirmed the maturity of this author's long career.

Among the "new voices" the narrative should highlight the Cusco Karina Pacheco, that the novel blood, dust, snow (San Marcos) and the stories of Alma alga (Draft) is established itself as one of the most important Peruvian writers. In addition, literary prizes have uncovered to storytellers like Javier Pizarro ( The world's longest sidewalk , PUCP National Award) and Giancarlo Poma ( Sonata kamikazes. Award BCR). And you can not fail to mention the reprinting of the violence of the time (Alfaguara), the great saga narrative of Miguel Gutierrez

POETRY

With over 30 years of constant dedication to poetic creation, Carlos López Degregori is finally reaching the recognition it deserves. His book A table in the deep woods (ESRP) is more and more poems that praise has been the critical part of this year. Without neglecting the complex symbolism of his earlier works ... A table shows a López dabbling in poetry land more accessible to non-specialist readers.

The death of a bourgeois (Album of the Universe Bakterial ) , Jerónimo Pimentel third book of poems, meant the confirmation of its author as the most important of the so-called generation post 2000. Far from structural rigidities and themes of his earlier books, poems Pimentel gives us more personal and intimate, with several records and techniques. He also gave a boost to its work, the Arequipa Oswaldo Chanover, emblematic poet of the generation of 80, who in the solar plexus (Coven) satirizes the prevailing scientific discourse today.

Maoli Mao

Among the new voices, the poet Maoli said Mao, who in his first book emotional Blindness (Hinge ) delved into the erotic themes of love, but taking away from the violent Peruvian female poetry of the past decades. This is a fresh and original lyric, which links resources more casual classics of the genre with modern touches. Another good "rookie" was the well-known journalist Eloy Jáuregui, who Deep hair (Hinge) brought the best of his poetry, showing an unknown side of his personality bookish.

Other poems of interest and were widely discussed Dying is an art (Streetcar) Mariela Dreyfus and Moridor (Pakarina) Willy Gómez Migliaro, intense reflection on the ever-present issue death, while Juan de la Fuente Beauty is a (Carpe Diem) assumes a more vital and aesthetics. Special mention Resurrection of the dead (National Assembly of Rectors) , great posthumous Churata Gamaliel (1897-1969), recovered by Italian Ricardo Peruvianist Badini. TEST

The major contribution in the field trial were the sociologist Gonzalo Portocarrero, who gave us in Ear silence (Ed. Network for the development of the Social Sciences) the fruit five years of reflection on literature, film, art and Peruvian society. In the more strictly literary critic Camilo Fernandez continued with its analysis of the main Peruvian poets twentieth century, this time with House, body. Blanca Varela's poetry in the mirror (Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola). Other books of interest were station meetings (IEPs) of Peter Elmore, Mirror of modernity, Vanguard, theater experience and 5 meters of Selenco poems Vega, Intertextuality in the poetry of Emilio Adolfo Westphalen , Mauro Jimenez and the reissue of The critical imagination Julio Ortega.
